Came across an accident last week at Kotturpuram. The guy should be around 25 only and had passed away the moment the accident had happened. Not sure if a bus hit him lightly when he was on his bike. But he had lost his life. No injuries anywhere in his body, no blood stains anywhere on his shirt or pant, just that his head was smashed with his brain lying partly outside. Does that ring a bell? Well, all of us know the vitality of helmets, yet, either we are lazy because am one too who doesn't wear a helmet just coz it has to be dusted or cleaned which I take ages to do or we feel that the helmet is suffocating and irritating. But isnt suffocation better than losing our life? Have heard people saying that its all fate and that if we are to die, however careful we are , we will die and if we are to live, even if we lie on a track, the train would just stop. Well, I strongly feel that they are mere justifications and aren't we supposed to treasure this life that comes just once? Helmets are necessary, both for the driver and for the pillion rider.

See one typical incident comes to my mind. I was just riding in my bike on the specified lane on mount road one day and a very elderly man happened to be behind me, although he was wearing helmet and inspite of his poor speed he fell off the bike and an MTC bus ran over him. None of us knew why he fell of his bike and why should a bus run over him..... There are few things that cant be abated. But that doesnt mean we need to be careless. What I am trying to express is that, sometimes, we tend to find reasons for mishaps instead of just taking it as amishap. Ifs and Buts dont work as the incident has aleady happened. We cant fight destiny... if there is soemthing like that.... But I do feel u just reduce the chance of getting a head injury if a helmet is worn, thats all. But still u can die having the helmet on....
Well Mr. Anonymous... all said and done, we need to be careful always :D
Well, I agree helmets are a MUST and I do wear regularly, but recently, I came aross this article on the newpaper, wherein a guy was run over by a truck or something and the impact was so hard it smashed the helmet, but unfortunately, the person died because the helmet couldn't be taken off his head on time. Just to safer, when you buy a helmet buy a good one with ISI mark..
